I've seen the misheard lyrics videos for "Sugar We're Goin Down," so I decided to do a thing where every day I listen to a song from From Under The Cork Tree (having never listened to it before or read the lyrics) and writing down whatever lyrics I hear. I'll try to post two songs every day, which will appear in album order on this page.

From Under The Cork Tree by Fall Out Boy

1. Our Lawyer Made Us Change the Name of This Song So We Wouldn't Get Sued

Brothers and sisters put this record down

Take my advice cause we are bad news

We will leave you high and dry

It's not worth but hearing you lose

It's just past day and I'm feeling young and reckless

The ribbon on my wrist says do not open before Christmas

We're only liars but we're the best

We're only good for the lady's twin

We're only good cause you can't have all those famous friends

Shot we've got such good fascist stats

Brothers and sisters yeah put these words down

Into your notebook (Save lives like these)

With friends went go on your knees

Make them dance like we were shooting

Iffy it's just past say and I'm feeling young and reckless

The ribbon on my wrist says do not open before Christmas

Only liars but we're the best

We're only good for the lady's twin

We're only good cause you can't have all those famous friends

Shot we've got such good fascist stats

We're only liars but we're the best

We're only good for the lady's twin

We're only liars but we're the best

We're only good for the lady's twin

We're only good cause you can't have all those famous friends

Sights we've got such good fascist stats

NOTES: This one was obviously easy to hear, I know there are some songs where you just can not tell what Patrick Stump is saying but this doesn't seem like one of them. Then again, maybe all of them are decipherable and everyone's just exaggerating. This is the first Fall Out Boy album I've listened to; before this I've only heard a few songs here and there.

2. Of All the Gin Joints in All the World

Oh

You lee hoe me up like this

Cause you don't know who I really am

Sometimes I just want to know what it's like to be you

We're making out inside crash cars

Slipping through all the memories

I used to waste my time dreaming of being alive

Now I only waste it dreaming of you

Turn off the lights

And ih turn off the shine is

Cause all the moose

Make up for the signs

And oh the way

You'll make up scenes my pillowcase

Like I'll never be the same

You lee hoe me up like this

Cause you don't know who I really am

I used to waste my time on

Waste my time on

Waste my time dreaming of being alive

Now I only waste it dreaming of you

Turn off the lights

And ih turn off the shine is

Cause all the moose

Make up for the signs

And oh the way

You'll make up scenes my pillowcase

Like I'll never be the same

Oh

I've got headaches

And bad luck but they couldn't touch and oh

I've got headaches

And bad luck but they couldn't touch and oh

I'm not trying

You lee hoe me up like this

Turn off the lights

And ih turn off the shine is

Cause all the moose

Make up for the signs

And oh the way

You'll make up scenes

Like I'll never be the same

Oh

NOTES: So I realized some of the stuff going on in this song. Uhm. Yeah that's fun. There are a few things that I realized what they are further down the way but for the sake of the funny I kept it as I initially heard it.

3. Dance, Dance

She says she's no good with words but I'm what

But she stuttered out a joke of a romantic stuck to my tongue

Weighed down with words too overdramatic

Tonight it's a cat get much worse worse no one should ever feel like

I'm two cortles and a hot nail

And I don't wanna forget how your voice smells

These words are all I have so I'll write them

She need them just to get by

Dance dance, we're falling apart to halftime

Dance dance, these are the lives you love to lead

Dance, this is the way thee love feel ill

Hey, misery loves me

You always fold just before you found out

Drink up it's last call last resort

I only the first mistake and I

I'm two cortles and a hot nail

And I don't wanna forget how your voice smells

These words are all I have so I'll write them

She need them just to get by

Why don't you show me

Little did a spar you

That saving forty's bed tress

(Wuh)

Dance dance, we're falling apart to halftime

Dance dance, these are the lives you love to lead

Dance, this is the way thee love he feel ill

Hey, misery love me

Why don't you show me

Little did a spar you

That saving forty's bed tress

(Bed tress, bed tress)

I only want sympathy in the form of you

Calling into bed with me

Dance dance, we're falling apart to halftime

Dance dance, these are the lives you love to lead

Dance, this is the way thee love (hey lay low)

Dance, this is the way thee love (hey lay low)

Dance, this is the way thee love he feel ill

Hey, misery love me

Dance dance, dance dance, dance dance, dance dance

NOTES: Why is this song so catchy!! I'm realizing this is less of a funny funny thing I'm doing and more like I'm actually listening to the album. Which, like, this is a pretty great thing for a first listen. I might do this more in the future, then. Probably with American Idiot by Green Day, since I've heard a few songs from that and plan to get the CD sometime in the near future.

4. Sugar, We're Goin Down

Am I more than you bargained for yet

I've been dying to tell you anything you wanna hear

Cause that's just who I am this week

Lie in the glass next to the mausoleum

I'm just the nuts in your bedpost but you're just a la dee da song

(Nuts in your bedpost but you're just a la de da song)

Drop a whore, break a name

We're allways slipping in and sleeping for the wrong team

We're going down down in an earlier round

And sugar we're going down swinging

I'll be your number one with a bullet

A loo lee gah kuh flex cock it and pull it

We're going down down in an earlier round

And sugar we're going down swinging

I'll be your number one with a bullet

A loo lee gah kuh flex cock it and pull it

Is this more than you bargained for yet

Oh tell mommy I watching youtube from the closet

Wishing to be the friction in your jeans

Isn't it messed up how I'm just dying to be him

I'm just the nuts in your bedpost but you're just a la dee da song

(Nuts in your bedpost but you're just a la de da song)

Drop a whore, break a name

We're allways slipping in and sleeping for the wrong team

We're going down down in an earlier round

And sugar we're going down swinging

I'll be your number one with a bullet

A loo lee gah kuh flex cock it and pull it

We're going down down in an earlier round

And sugar we're going down swinging

I'll be your number one with a bullet

A loo lee gah kuh flex cock it and pull it

Down down in an earlier round

And sugar we're going down swinging

I'll be your number one with a bullet

A loo lee gah kuh flex cock it and pull it

We're going down down in an earlier round (teh teh weh I seh)

And sugar we're going down swinging (take back what you said)

I'll be your number one with a bullet (taking eh my self)

A loo lee gah kuh flex cock it and pull it

We're going daughter (daughter)

Daughter (daughter)

We're going daughter (daughter)

A loo lee gah kuh flex cock it and pull it

We're going down down in an earlier round (teh teh weh I seh)

And sugar we're going down swinging (take back what you said)

I'll be your number one with a bullet (taking eh my self)

A loo lee gah kuh flex cock it and pull it

NOTES: This is the one everyone's heard, so I already know a lot of the lyrics to this one. (It was this song that inspired me to do this in the first place.) As such, my interpretation is heavily based on that misheard lyric video, so I will link it here to give gredit: Misheard Lyrics- Sugar We're Going Down. I might have gotten the youtube line from different video, though, but it's all I can hear in that spot; I don't know the original line. Also in the part with the overlapping voices there might have been a third voice but I couldn't hear anything it was saying.

5. Nobody Puts Baby in the Corner

Dream terror didn't care a thing

A cold speed I'll bleed is we me

Just to keep this whole

Light a match to lead maybe

Well I don't mess to weeb me

I keep my jealousy worse coarse

Need some mud

And if you see this makes you happy then I'm not the only one

Whoa

Keep quiet, nothing comes in idiocy

You cannot lay on your bed all day

I'll be your best kept secret and your biggest mistake

Hand me all those peppers I fed you every day

Keep quiet, nothing comes in idiocy

You cannot lay on your bed all day

I'll be your best kept secret and your biggest mistake

Hand me all those peppers I fed you every day

I keep my jealousy worse coarse

Need some mud

And if you see this makes you happy then I'm not the only one

Whoa

Deep jealousy and kerosene

A cold speed I'll breathe this weed me

Just to keep this whole (just to keep this whole)

Light a match to lead maybe

Well I don't mess to weeb me

Keep quiet, nothing comes in idiocy

You cannot lay on your bed all day

I'll be your best kept secret and your biggest mistake

Hand me all those peppers I fed you every day

Keep quiet, nothing comes in idiocy

You cannot lay on your bed all day

I'll be your best kept secret and your biggest mistake

Hand me all those peppers I fed you every day

So rip me like a locket around your throat

I weigh you down I'll watch you choke

You look so good in blue

You look so good in blue

(So rip me like a locket) around your throat

(I weigh you down) I'll watch you choke

(You look so good in blue)

You look so good in blue

So rip me like a locket around your throat

I weigh you down I'll watch you choke

You look so good in blue

You look so good in blue

Keep quiet, nothing comes in idiocy

You cannot lay on your bed all day

I'll be your best kept secret and your biggest mistake

Hand me all those peppers I fed you every day

Keep quiet, nothing comes in idiocy

You cannot lay on your bed all day

I'll be your best kept secret and your biggest mistake

Hand me all those peppers I fed you every day

Keep quiet, nothing comes in idiocy

You cannot lay on your bed all day

I'll be your best kept secret and your biggest mistake

Hand me all those peppers I fed you every day

NOTES: In the third time of the locket verse there's another voice but I can't hear what it says. It might be repeating another part of the song. Also apparently the title of this song is based on Veronica Mars which I've seen a few episodes of! Makes sense for the time period. Like "Lying Is The Most Fun A Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off" & "But it's Better If You Do" by Panic! At The Disco being a line from Closer.

6. I've Got a Dark Alley and a Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth (Summer Song)

We joke me something awful just like kisses of the metal best friends

We didn't kiss you, feel like it is

And I want to be known for my hits, not just my misses

I took a shot and didn't even come close

And trust in love and hope

And the poets are just kids who didn't make it and never had it at all

And the record won't stop skipping

And the lodges won't stop slipping

And the subtle reputations all align

We can fake it for the airwaves

Whilst the smiles beating half dead

Come I can bury myself so everyone else around me

Please put the doctor on the phone cause I'm not making any sense

L'Emmanuel odd but me for this less

And my back has been breaking from this heavy haul

We'd never seen so far

I'm heartlessly hopeful you're just hopeless enough

But we never had it at all

And the record won't stop skipping

And the lodges won't stop slipping

And the subtle reputations all align

We can fake it for the airwaves

Whilst the smiles beating half dead

Come I can bury myself so everyone else around me

So everyone else around me

Everyone else around me

Everyone else around me

NOTES: MOMENT OF APPRECIATION FOR THE WRITERS OF FALL OUT BOY!!! At the end of the album I'm gonna read the actual lyrics to all the songs (maybe even in the CD booklet if I like it enough) cause honestly? The topics can be slightly off but the lyrics OH THE LYRICS. I feel guilty for not getting some of the lyrics for this one cause its so good!

7. 7 Minutes in Heaven (Atavan Halen)

I'm sleeping my way out of this one

With anyone who'll lie down

I bee stuck fixated on one star

When the world is crashing down

Keep telling myself I keep telling myself

Not against the toll but you got me looking at you

Keep telling myself I keep telling myself

I'm not against re toll

Singing out dances on the wall

Trying to forget everything that isn't you

I'm not going home alone

Cause I don't do to well

Singing out dances on the wall

Trying to forget everything that isn't you

I'm not going home alone

Cause I don't do to well on my own

I'll read the only thing worse than not knowing

Is you thinking that I don't know

I'm having another amber so

I just need a stronger dose

Keep telling myself I keep telling myself

Not against the toll but you got me looking at you

Keep telling myself I keep telling myself

I'm not against re toll

Singing out dances on the wall

Trying to forget everything that isn't you

I'm not going home alone

Cause I don't do to well

Singing out dances on the wall

Trying to forget everything that isn't you

I'm not going home alone

Cause I don't do to well on my own

Da

Do

Da

Do

Keep telling myself I keep telling myself

Not against the toll but you got me looking at you

Oh

Keep telling myself I keep telling myself

I'm not against re toll

Singing out dances on the wall

Trying to forget everything that isn't you

I'm not going home alone

Cause I don't do to well on my own

NOTES: This one was so hard to understand at parts!! Sorry I'm too lazy to write out all the "da"s and "do"s. Oh also Brendon Urie sings on this one too! I love when they do things like that; like Hayley Williams singing Sugar We're Goin Down at a FoB concert.

8. Sophomore Slump or Comeback of the Year

Are we going up

Or just going down

It's just a matter of time

Until we're all found out

Take your tears

Put them on ice

Cause I swear I'd burn the city down

To show you the light

We're the therapists thumping through your speakers

Delivering just what you need

Well-read and poised

We're the best boys

We're the chemists who found the formula

To make your heart swell and burst

No matter what they say

Don't believe a word

Cause I'll keep singing this lie if you'll keep believing it

I'll keep singing this lie

I'll keep singing this lie

Are we going up

Or just going down

It's just a matter of time

Until we're all found out

Take your tears

Put them on ice

Cause I swear I'd burn the city down

To show you the light

And we travel

Like gypsies

Only with worse luck

And far less goal

The kids you used to love

When can read you old

Well the life is

Here till the bitter end

Condemned from the start

The shade of the way

The songs and the wounds oh

The beating of a heart

I'll keep singing this lie

I'll keep singing this lie

Are we going up

Or just going down

It's just a matter of time

Until we're all found out

Take your tears

Put them on ice

Cause I swear I'd burn the city down

To show you the light

And there's a chug in the thermostat

To other a row

And there's another around

To love is spending your trust goddess

Unsaid in my veins

And I need to take a pill to make this town feel okay

The best part of believe is the lie

I hope you sing along and steal a line

I need to keep you like this in my mind

So give in or just give up

The best part of believe is the lie

I hope you sing along and steal a line

I need to keep you like this in my mind

So give in or just give up

Are we going up

Or just going down (WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAOW)

Are we going up

Or just going down

It's just a matter of time

Until we're all found out

Take your tears

Put them on ice

Cause I swear I'd burn the city down

To show you the light

NOTES: I think the g slur wasn't a slur back then... I wish people would stop romanticizing and sugarcoating the 2000s; things were pretty bad back then in terms of diversity and inclusion. Also YESS THE SCREAMS THE SCREAMS BRING ON THE SCREAMS but not too much dont destroy your throat I already have one friend with laryngitis on my hands. And the instrumental for the verse before the screams was so good!

9. Champagne for My Real Friends, Real Pain for My Sham Friends

You are a getaway car I support to the left

Above me under the covers on top of your head

You steer eer eer eer make my head swell

I keep you on and not ask you where you've been

And with your blackest black dress stuck to the skin

When it's set and dull you all scramble in

And be friends, we're friends

Just because we move units

Star cuts like matches

Cause everyone deserves the flames

We only do it for the scars of stories

Not the fear

At least everybody's trying (everybody's trying)

Everyone deserves the flames

But it's all to shame

'S all to shame

The sounds of this small town

Make my ears hurt (make my ears hurt)

(Oh yeah, you caught me)

But I caught you on worse

Oh

They say (you want a war, you got a war)

But who are you fighting for?

Time's out ships are on the ground

We drown, traitors on shadow order

And with your blackest black dress stuck to the skin

When it's set and dull you all scramble in

And be friends, we're friends

Just because we move units

Star cuts like matches

Cause everyone deserves the flames

We only do it for the scars of stories

Not the fear

At least everybody's trying (everybody's trying)

Everyone deserves the flames

But it's all to shame

'S all to shame

Everybody's trying (everybody's shining)

Everyone deserves the flames

But it's all to shame

'S all to shame

Star cuts like matches

Cause everyone deserves the flames

We only do it for the scars of stories

Not the fear

At least everybody's trying (everybody's trying)

Everyone deserves the flames

But it's all to shame

NOTES: Gabi Belle once said in a video that emo artists always write about hating their town. Why is this like the second song on this album that mentions a town. She even used a FoB line to illustrate that. Anyways this song was hard as you can tell. I can't believe I got around to doing this today, since I have a lot of homework and also have been obsessing over the CSS of this website, as you can tell if you've been following along as I do this.

10. I Slept with Someone in Fall Out Boy and All I Got Was This Stupid Song Written About Me

I found the cure to growing older

And you're the only place that feels like home

Just so you know you'll never know

That some secrets were meant to be told

But I found the cure to growing older

I'm the first kid to ride in hearts slides and friends

And I am sorry my conscience called in sick again

And I got arrogance down to a science

Oh and I'm the first kid to ride in hearts slides and friends now

Dah suh seh me chee wuh few mits

Something something

Of the way you or to cover it up

Can't cover it up

So dah suh seh me chee wuh few mits

So something something

Of the way you or can't cover it up

Can't cover it up

No oh

Find a safe place, raise yourself, bite your lips

I'm sending your fingernails and empty bottles you've sipped

Back to your family cause I know you will be missed

So you can find a safe place, raise yourself, fake all kids

Like a shfis, Justin coughed out a store

But for what we've been caught we just feel more alone

Always wait for a cork, onions fell, I left

So progress a poor I missing you to death

Douse yourself in cheap perfume it's

Something something

Of the way you or can't cover it up

Can't cover it up

So douse yourself in cheap perfume it's

So something something

Of the way you or can't cover it up

Can't cover it up

No oh

(To an of) No one knew

(Feeling borrowed) We're always blue

(To an of) No one knew

(Feeling borrowed) We're always blue

TO AN OF, NO ONE KNEW

FEELING BORROWED, WE'RE ALWAYS BLUE

TO AN OF, NO ONE KNEW

FEELING BORROWED, WE'RE ALWAYS

(BLUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE) I found a cuticle, want it?

I found a cuticle, we loaned it

Douse yourself in cheap perfume it's

So fitting, so fitting

Of the way you are; can't cover it up

Can't cover it up

So douse yourself in cheap perfume it's

So fitting, so fitting

Of the way you are; can't cover it up

CAN'T COVER IT UUUUUAAAAAAAAAP

NOTES: Love the... meme title lmao; this might be my favorite title from the album. Also "Something" is not a placeholder, that's legitimately what I heard. And "Justin coughed out a store" is definitely a highlight of this listening, another being just marveling at how well-written these lyrics are (the ones I do hear). And I figured out the chorus on the second and third choruses (as you can tell) but left my original interpretation in there for humor's sake. This is probably the least understandable song so far.

And expect the final three songs tomorrow! If I have enough time I'll relisten to the album with the actual lyrics! If not, I'll probably end up having time by the end of next week.

11. A Little Less Sixteen Candles, a Little More "Touch Me"

I confess, I messed up, dropping I'm sorry like you're still around

And I know you dressed up, hey kid you're never gonna live this down

You're just the girl all the boys want to dance with, and I'm just the boy who's had too many chances

I'm sleeping on your folks' porch again dreaming, she said she said she said why don't you just drop dead

I don't blame you for being you

But you can't blame me for for hating it

So say what are you waiting for; kiss her, kiss her

I said I close early cause I know I'm always late

Light me off, give up on me cause darling what did you expect

I'm just all a lost cause, a long shot, don't even take this bet

You can make all the music, email the spotlights

Get all the signs and most just right

I'm sleeping on your folks' porch again dreaming, she said she said she said why don't you just drop dead

I don't blame you for being you

But you can't blame me for for hating it

So say what are you waiting for; kiss her, kiss her

I said my cock's early cause I know I'm always late (always, always, oh)

You said you'd keep me honest (always, always, oh)

But I won't call you on it (always, always, oh)

I don't blame you for being you

But you can't blame me for for hating it

So say what are you waiting for; kiss her, kiss her

I said my cock's early cause I know I'm always late

I said my cock's early cause I know I'm always late

NOTES: This being the shortest song so far was pretty refreshing since I have to get through three songs today instead of two. (I just didn't want to leave the last one for tomorrow.)

12. Get Busy Living or Get Busy Dying (Do Your Part to Save the Scene and Stop Going to Shows)

This has been said so many times and I'm not sure if it matters

But we never stood a chance and I'm not sure if it matters

If you are the shores I am the waves begging for big moons

I'm mailing letters to addresses in a ghost town, no

(Your secret's out)

I know this hurts, it was meant to (it was meant to)

Your secret's out and the best part is it isn't even a good one

And it's mine over you should show mowhhh

This has been said so many times and I'm not sure if it matters

But it must be said again that all us boys are just screaming

Into microphones for attention because we're just so bored, oh

We never knew that you would pick it up uh oh I'm falling apart to songs about hips and hearts

(Your secret's out)

I know this hurts, it was meant to (it was meant to)

Your secret's out and the best part is it isn't even a good one

And it's mine over you duh duh mowhhh

I used to obsess over living

Now I only obsess over youihh

Tell me you'd like boys like me betterh

In the dark lie in the dump of yeeouihh

(This) has (been) said (so many times and) I'M NOT sure if it matters (matters)

(THIS) HAS (BEEN) SAID (SO MANY TIMES AND) I'M NOT SURE IF IT MATTAARS (MATTAARS)

This has been said so many times and I'm not sure if it matters

Oh THIS HAS BEEN SAID SO MANY TIMES AND I'M NOT SURE IF IT MAYAYAYAAAAA YEAH

I know this hurts, it was meant to (it was meant to) (OH)

(YEAH) Your secret's out and the best part is it isn't even a good one (OH)

And it's mine OVER YOU DOH DOH DOH DOH MOWHHH

From day one I talked about getting out but not forgetting about how my worst fears are letting out. He said why put an address on the same old loneliness when breathing just passes the time until we all just get old and die? Now talking's just a waste of breath and living's just a waste of death and why put a new address on the same old loneliness and this is you and me and me and you until we've got nothing left!

NOTES: Holy shit that chord progression in the 3rd and 4th lines is just like When The Day Met The Night by Panic! At The Disco!!! The chords of this song are really good. Also yes, I HAD to write the emo voice phonetically. Also, I abcolutely love the voice over at the end. It cuts off pretty abruptly so maybe it bleeds into the next song? Only one way to find out!

13. XO

I comb the crowd and pick you out

My mouth moves to fast for you to figure it out

It starts eyes closed to fingers crossed

To I swear I say, to I swear I say

Two hands between legs or whatever it takes to

Drinks at the bar to the club to the kids in your car

To hotel stair, to the emergency exit door no

To the love I left my conscience

Pressed between the pages of

The bible in the drawer

Don't did it in the chew for me

I said (I said (I said (I said)))

It never calms me when I'm down love never wanted me

But I took it anyway (TOOK IT ANYWAY)

Put you into the speaker

Choose love and sympathy

But never both

Love never wanted me

I hoped you choked and crashed your car

A-tier catcher, that's all that you are

Ever were from the start

I swear I say

(I swear I say)

Two hands between legs or whatever it takes to

Drinks at the bar to the club to the kids in your car

To hotel stair, to the emergency exit door no

To the love I left my conscience

Pressed between the pages of

The bible in the drawer

What did it ever do for me?

I said (I said (I said (I said)))

It never calms me when I'm down love never wanted me

But I took it anyway (TOOK IT ANYWAY)

Put you into the speaker

Choose love and sympathy

But never both, no

To the love I left my conscience

Pressed through the keyhole, I watched you

Dress, kiss and tell

Loose lips sink ships

To the love I left my conscience

Pressed through the keyhole, I watched you

Dress, kiss and tell

Loose lips sink ships

To the love I left my conscience

Pressed through the keyhole, I watched you

Dress, kiss and tell (kiss and tell)

Loose lips sink ships

To the love I left my conscience pressed

To the love I left my conscience pressed

To the love I left my conscience

Pressed between the pages of

The bible in the drawer

What did it ever do for me?

I say

NOTES: Love a good repeating ending. The wat the chords changed from chorus to chorus was so interesting!! Anyways, sorry if this one is sloppier than the others; I was kind of rushing to get this done. But now it's done! Yay! I'm probably gonna relisten to the whole album later today if I can.

I enjoyed this album so much that I plan on getting the CD at some point in the future, though it'll probably be in a while because of availability and money. Once I do get it I'll go back to this, following along with the CD booklet with the correct lyrics, and I'll add another note at the end of each song with thoughts I have between what I heard and the actual lyrics. Just hoping that the CD booklet has the final lyrics and not the drafts like A Fever You Can't Sweat Out does!
